JOB SUMMARY:

Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and aluminum.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Studies blueprints, sketches, or plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated for Exhibits
• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials
• Erects framework for structures
• Multiskilled in all assembly techniques and equipment throughout the department.
• Ability to assist in other departments.
• Ability to follow CAD drawings
• Ability to handle all projects with little to no supervision
• Will be expected to train/mentor carpenter apprentices
• Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
• Effectively works with a team of builders to construct assigned projects from start to completion
• Accurately interprets and works from plans and fabrication drawings
• Ability to successfully manage construction of multiple custom projects
• Experience working with a range of materials, to include plywood, MDF, laminate and plexi.
• Ability to use multiple types of equipment, to include a table saw, router, etc.
• Regulate material usage to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency on project
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Been with the company 5+ years as a carpenter.
• Ability to lead a team to complete projects with little to no supervision.
• Ability to coordinate with other departments for the completion of a project.
• Basic hand tool knowledge, table saw, chop saw and lamination.
• Ability to follow CAD drawings.
• Ability to work accurately and quickly under company deadlines.
• Cooperative, courteous, flexible and good natured.
• Conscientious, persistent, resourceful, productive and active.
• Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships and deal with employees in an efficient and professional manner.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and commitment to meeting and exceeding deadlines and goals.
• Valid driver’s license.
