Job Description
Americas Gold & Silver is seeking a Production Geologist to join our underground mining team at the historic Galena Complex in Wallace, Idaho. This role offers hands-on underground experience in both conventional and mechanized narrow vein mining and is ideal for geologists eager to grow their technical skills and advance their career in underground mine operations.
As a Production Geologist, you will play a key role in supporting production and development by providing accurate grade control, mapping, and geological analysis. You will work closely with experienced geologists, mine engineers, and operations teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct logging, mapping, and sampling of underground development and stopes.
• Collect and record geological data, including grade control samples and ore/waste boundaries.
• Support underground drilling programs, core logging, and assay sample management.
• Update and maintain geological databases, maps, and reports.
• Provide geological input to production and mine planning teams for stope sequencing and ore control.
• Participate in both conventional and mechanized underground mining operations, gaining exposure to diverse mining methods.
• Apply QA/QC protocols to ensure accurate data collection and assay verification.
• Assist senior geologists with data interpretation, reporting, and underground assessments.
• Follow all MSHA and company safety policies, including participation in underground safety meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field.
• Preferred: 2–4 years of experience in underground mining or production geology.
• Preferred: Exposure to narrow vein mining methods, grade control, or underground drilling.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and data management abilities.
• Motivation to learn and develop a career in underground mine geology.
Technical Requirements
• Ability to read and interpret mine plans, cross-sections, and geological maps.
• Basic proficiency with geological software and data management tools.
• Ability to work safely in confined underground environments and follow all company safety policies.
• Physical ability to access underground workings and perform field-based tasks.
