Job Description

As a Senior FP&A Analyst – Finance, Data & AI at Unusual Machines, you won’t just report on the business—you’ll help build the financial and data infrastructure that powers it. Sitting at the intersection of finance, data engineering, and AI, you will play a critical role in transforming how the company plans, analyzes, and makes decisions.

This is a hybrid role for someone who is equally comfortable building financial models, working with data pipelines, and experimenting with AI tools to drive automation and insight. You’ll partner closely with leadership across operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to turn complex, fragmented data into clear, actionable direction.

This role is ideal for someone who is analytical and technically hands-on, but also naturally curious and forward-thinking. You’re excited about leveraging modern tools—especially AI—to rethink how finance operates in a fast-moving, systems-evolving environment.

A Day in the Life
• Building and refining financial forecasts based on real-time operational and sales data
• Analyzing variances and translating results into insights for leadership decision-making
• Connecting and reconciling data across systems like NetSuite, HubSpot, SkuVault, and Google Sheets
• Developing dashboards and reports that provide visibility into financial and operational performance
• Experimenting with technology and AI tools to automate reporting, analysis, and data workflows
• Creating technological outputs like narrative summaries, anomaly detection, or ad-hoc insights
• Partnering cross-functionally with sales, operations, supply chain, and corporate leadership teams
• Identifying inefficiencies in current processes and building automated solutions

What You’ll Do
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across the business
• Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to leadership
• Partner with sales, operations and supply chain teams to model and improve unit economics
• Build and maintain scalable financial models that support strategic decision-making
• Own and evolve the company’s financial and operational reporting infrastructure
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines across multiple systems and platforms
• Integrate and reconcile data across ERP, CRM, inventory, and ad-hoc data sources
• Develop dashboards and visualizations using BI tools to drive visibility and alignment
• Identify and implement automation opportunities to eliminate manual reporting work
• Champion the adoption of modern technical tools across finance workflows
• Build efficient automated processes (AI/LLM tools, VBA macros, API integrations, scripting) to scale output and reduce manual effort
• Stay current on emerging tools and technologies and pilot high impact tools that deliver measurable ROI

What You’ll Bring

Required:
• 4–7+ years of experience in FP&A, finance, or related analytical roles
• Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
• Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Hands-on experience working with data (SQL, data pipelines, or ETL processes)
• Experience with BI tools such as Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau, or similar
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets (automation, modeling, analysis)
• Experience integrating data across multiple business systems (ERP, CRM, inventory tools)
• Familiarity with APIs and data connectivity concepts
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) in a professional setting
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex data into clear insights
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Preferred:
• Experience with NetSuite, HubSpot, SkuVault, or similar systems
• Background in e-commerce, manufacturing, or hardware-based businesses
• Experience building or managing data infrastructure in a growing company
• Familiarity with LLM APIs and building lightweight AI integrations
• Experience in high-growth or startup environments
• Interest in emerging technologies, automation, and AI-driven business transformation

What You’ll Gain
• Direct impact on how the business plans, analyzes, and scales
• Ownership over both financial insights and the systems that generate them
• Opportunity to lead AI adoption within a core business function
• Exposure to a fast-growing company operating across hardware, e-commerce, and media
• The ability to replace manual, time-intensive processes with scalable, automated solutions
• A highly dynamic environment where innovation, speed, and data-driven decisions matter

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision
  • 401(k)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Catered lunches for all employees every day of the week
  • Employee product discounts
