Position Summary

The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for clients, applicants, visitors, and members of the public. This role is essential in creating a welcoming, professional, and compassionate environment while supporting intake and front‑office operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer and route incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
  • Conduct initial applicant eligibility pre‑screens
  • Greet and assist visitors in person
  • Provide accurate information about the organization, services, and application processes
  • Represent the organization positively as the first impression for clients and community members
  • Support front‑office administrative functions as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Fluency in English and Spanish (required)
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and professionalism when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute and successfully pass a secretarial skills assessment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office , including Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interact with community members in a calm, respectful, and compassionate manner

Education and Experience

  • Entry‑level position ; 1–2 years of reception or administrative experience preferred
  • Associate degree or higher preferred
