The Job

At Enchanted Coffee Bar, we have built a reputation for our passion for coffee. And as a Barista, you are the heartbeat of our café. You're not just making drinks, you're creating an experience that feels considered, calm, and genuinely hospitable. You'll work with exceptional single-origin and coffee blends, dialed-in espresso, and guests who are curious and engaged. Every detail matters to us, and we think it must matter to you, too.

Specialty coffee is more than what we serve to others; it's a discipline. We think about coffee the way a chef thinks about ingredients: where it comes from, who grew it, how it was processed, and what we owe it in the brewing process. If you find yourself reading about varietals on your day off, pulling shots at home to compare extractions, or genuinely moved by a particularly clean Ethiopian, you'll feel at home here.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and serve espresso, matcha, craft drinks, and pour-over coffee to the highest standards of quality and consistency
• Engage with guests in a way that is warm, knowledgeable, and unhurried, answering questions about our sourcing, roasting philosophy, and seasonal offerings
• Keep the bar and other stations clean, organized, and running smoothly during service
• Dial in grinders and calibrate espresso throughout the day to maintain quality as conditions change
• Work collaboratively with your team to create a café environment that feels welcoming to everyone
• Participate in regular tastings, trainings, and menu education as we roll out new offerings

What We are Looking For

• A genuine love of coffee. You don't need years of specialty experience, but your curiosity and enthusiasm should be genuine.
• 1+ year of café experience preferred
• An active California Food Handlers Card . Or a willingness to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Enchanted Coffee Bar covers all associated costs and compensates employees for time spent completing the certification.
• A commitment to continuous learning. Specialty coffee is always evolving. We want someone who follows that change, someone who gets excited about a new processing method, a new brewing variable, or a coffee that challenges their palate.
• Hospitality instinct. You naturally make people feel at ease. You listen well and read the room.
• Attention to detail. You notice when something's slightly off, and you care enough to fix it.
• Reliability and presence. You show up on time, ready to contribute, and bring good energy to the team.

Availability

This role requires availability on weekends. Holiday availability is expected for most holidays throughout the year, including Thanksgiving weekend. Enchanted Coffee Bar is closed on Christmas and New Year's Day, giving our team time to rest and celebrate with the people they love.

Physical Demands

• Standing and walking: Frequently required to stand and move throughout the café during a shift
• Hand and wrist use: Frequently required to handle equipment, operate an espresso machine, and perform repetitive motions, including tamping and steaming.
• Lifting and carrying: Occasionally required to lift and carry items up to 30 lbs. (e.g., bags of coffee, shipments, trash)
• Reaching and bending: Occasionally required to reach overhead and bend to access storage, equipment, and supplies
• Exposure to heat and noise: Regularly works in proximity to hot equipment and in an environment with moderate background noise
