Director of Nursing – Labor and Delivery

Location: Joshua Tree, CA

Schedule: Monday – Friday (24/7 Department Responsibility)

On-Call: Required

Salary: $135,200 – $216,320 (based on experience)

Direct Reports: Oversight of 17 FTEs in LDRP, 1+ FTE in Infusion, 1 FTE in Echo

Additional Oversight: Echo and Infusion Departments

Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is recruiting for an experienced Director of Nursing – Labor and Delivery on behalf of our client in Joshua Tree, CA. This leadership role provides oversight of the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit, as well as Echo and Infusion departments. The Director will be responsible for staffing, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and operational management while maintaining a strong clinical presence to support patient care and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for the LDRP, Echo, and Infusion departments.
• Maintain high-quality patient care by upholding clinical standards and supporting nursing staff.
• Manage budgets, staffing, and scheduling to ensure efficiency and resource optimization.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations.
• Collaborate with hospital administration on organization-wide initiatives.
• Oversee staff training, professional development, and retention strategies.
• Monitor time management, charge capture, and operational reporting for Echo and Infusion.
• Foster a safe, patient-centered, and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

Education:

• Associate degree in Nursing with a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or BSN required.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of RN experience.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory/management role (Manager or Director level).
• Recent hands-on clinical experience in labor and delivery.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Active RN license in California (or ability to obtain).
• Current CPR certification.
