Senior Backend Engineer

FinTech Infrastructure | High‑Impact Systems

$150K–$250K + Equity (Exceptional talent considered above band)

Location: Palo Alto, San Francisco Bay Area

Help rebuild core infrastructure for a deeply complex, highly regulated financial industry.

HireQ Talent is working with a fast‑scaling FinTech company building a vertically integrated platform that automates critical financial workflows end‑to‑end. The problem space is dense, rules heavy, and mission‑critical and correctness is non negotiable.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and build backend systems that encode complex domain logic into executable workflows
• Own high‑stakes services where reliability, precision, and correctness are paramount
• Translate dense, natural‑language rules into deterministic software using TypeScript, custom DSLs, and AI
• Work directly with non‑technical experts to understand edge cases and exceptions
• Build internal tooling that enables safe, configurable automation
• Design for failure, invest heavily in testing, and think deeply about system boundaries

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• Senior Backend Software Engineer
• Background in FinTech, payments, SaaS, dev tooling, or other regulated domains
• Proven experience shipping systems where accuracy and robustness mattered
• Comfortable owning projects end‑to‑end in low‑process environments

Technical Skills

• Strong professional backend experience with TypeScript
• Experience encoding complex business logic into maintainable systems
• Familiarity with DSLs, rule engines, workflow orchestration, or automation systems
• Exposure to AI‑assisted development or agentic tooling is a strong plus
• Comfortable working closely with domain experts and product leaders
